We Empower Africa’s Youth in Agrifood Entrepreneurship
In 2018, Strive Masiyiwa, Founder and Chairman of the Econet Group, and Svein Tore Holsether, President and CEO of Yara International discussed the immense untapped business potential in Africa’s agrifood sector and the unprecedented demographic shifts taking place on the continent, and decided to create a partnership to bring the dynamism of youth entrepreneurship to Africa’s agrifood sector.

Our Story
+Initially co-catalyzed by Yara, Econet and the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) under the Generation Africa umbrella, GoGettaz has flourished as a partnership for the last 6 years, supported by several public and private sector organizations to identify, inspire, support, propel and celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector.
The prestigious annual flagship GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition has activated a community of 17,000+ young founders/co-founders of high-potential agrifood businesses in Africa, all with the ambition to create cutting edge businesses, leveraging new technologies including climate adaptation innovations and access to markets, to eventually make Africa the breadbasket of the world.
Today, GoGettaz is firmly rooted at the Africa Food Systems (AFS) Forum, the world’s premier forum on African agriculture and food systems, and its “Youth in Food Systems” thematic platform. Yara and Econet are fully committed to build on successes to date, gather like-minded partners to support the GoGettaz community through their personal and professional agripreneurship journeys, and to reach millions of young agripreneurs across Africa with opportunities, funding and inspiration.
