OBRI Tanzania empowers women smallholder farmers in Africa through sustainable agriculture and local sourcing, particularly with our sunflower cooking oil.

About OBRI Tanzania

OBRI Tanzania is a for-profit agri-food company working with women smallholder farmers to transform agriculture in Africa and ensure food security through sustainable agriculture training and practices, edible sunflower oil processing and supply under the OBRI brand. We are committed to sourcing our raw materials locally, organically, and ethically via fair trade and direct trade channels to our smallholder sunflower growers in Tanzania and being committed to social and environmental sustainability that impacts our community. We partner with different stakeholders such as the Aga Khan Foundation and the local government to provide our farmers with farming inputs such as planters and harvesters as well as certified seeds during planting. As part of our vision for a more just, equitable and sustainable world, we are partnering with businesses and suppliers mainly owned by women and under-served communities. To date we are working with about 1,872 women smallholder farmers. We buy all of the sunflower seeds from our farmers, process and sell our sunflower cooking oil in Tanzania targeting middle- and low-income families who constitute about 90% of Tanzania population currently.
