Thanks to its unique soil and tropical climate, Madagascar is an island rich in biodiversity, including aromatic plants with a thousand virtues (medicinal and aromatherapy), offering unique scents and flavors sought after by consumers the world over (perfumery, restaurants, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc.). Indeed, among many other things, Madagascar is the world’s leading producer of vanilla, the world’s second largest producer of cloves, and has the world’s most sought-after exotic-flavored cocoa. MAD’AROM is therefore a company that promotes the development of these unique plants (aromatic, medicinal, spices) through collaboration with small-scale producers, making Madagascar an unique country. MAD’AROM trains small producers to grow and exploit these aromatic plants within an agroforestry system (spices, fruit trees and shade trees) in several regions of Madagascar, then collects these plants to produce essential oils for export or for sale to local industries. The company’s vision is to produce these typical Madagascar products in quality and quantity, in collaboration with the producers who form the backbone of the company’s value chain development.
