Solaristique Nigeria is a recycling company that is focused on making sustainable clean energy and environment-friendly solutions targeted at BoP households, hospitals and clinics, farmers in rural and peri-urban communities, SMEs, big corporations and Households in urban areas. Our core sectors are waste collection, cold storage and alternative building materials. We recycle old freezers and refrigerators into solar-powered freezers and coolers. Our solar freezers and coolers are helping to reduce Nigeria’s food losses and wastes by helping to provide constant cold storage 24/7 in any part of the country. Our unique value proposition is that our solar freezers are double-chambered, making it possible to last for days without adequate sunlight. This makes them ideal for off-grid applications. It also uses a solar business system that makes it run without battery backup. This makes our products 50% cheaper than other solar freezers. Our latest model Ayogu is a detachable tricycle mobile solar freezer. They are specially made for cooling drinks, dairy products, etc en route to markets, stalls, or homes. Once at the destination the freezer and the solar panel can easily be detached from the tricycle. This prototype model is a 150 litre capacity and can be scaled up to 1000 liters. It is totally solar-powered and works with little or no battery backup. In addition, our solution is also helping to reduce GHG emissions by helping to cut back on food wastes and losses through our solar freezers. Food wastes break down to emit methane gasses which are 12 times more potent than carbon. Furthermore, we are helping to reduce electronic waste from refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners. Our solar freezers/refrigerators are specially made for off-grid applications, 100% solar-powered, and provide refrigeration services 24/7, making them suitable for last-mile communities where 80% of Nigeria’s dairy product(milk) comes from. Therefore we are ensuring access to a clean energy cold storage system for all. In addition, our solar coolers/freezers have the Internet of Things (IoT) and have a management information system (MIS). These features help to track food loss reduction data while using our product. This data is quantified and benched against the US dollar and traded in the carbon market using blockchain technology. This will help users of products earn a secondary income. These earnings will help to strengthen the economic situation of these communities. Apart from these environmental impacts, we are also creating jobs for women who serve as our sales agents, technicians, and waste pickers. So far we have created 15 jobs for women.
