At Pure and Just Food we catalyse African potential through climate-smart food processing that creates sustainable jobs, raises incomes, and protects the environment. Specifically, we transform fresh fruit into natural, tropical dried fruit products (mango, pineapple, pawpaw, and banana) in order to facilitate rural-urban business by linking rural farm produce to local and foreign urban retail opportunities We operate both a B2B and B2C model, selling private label bulk dried fruit per kilogram and convenient, healthy snacking ready-to-retail dried fruit pouches. Our products are distributed in 25+ retail points across Ghana and 3 online e-commerce sites, as well as exported to 4 countries (Germany, UAE, Japan, USA.) Our work creates sustainable jobs for youth, increases farmer incomes, and stimulates economic growth by enhancing an under-developed local value-added agribusiness sector. Our circular climate-smart model increases farmer income by 40% and reduces spoilage and post-harvest losses by 50% on average. Since inception we have created 20 direct jobs, and are proud to that our part-time staff earn 65% more than the official minimum wage in Ghana ($85/month vs. $52/month) and our full time management staff earn 181% more
